Rev. Fred G. Speet, 81, of Bellaire, died Mon, Jul 1, 1996, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Rev. Speed had resided in Antrim and Kalkaska counties for over 40 years, and was the former pastor of the Rapid City Assembly of God. He also served the Armada Assembly of God and was the founder of the Big Rapids Assembly of God. He was a graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, and enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing, and hunting.
Born in Allegan County on Jan 14, 1915, he was the son of Fred and Mona VanOrder Speet. He married Josephine Winters in Grand Rapids, and she preceded him in death in 1966. On Jul 20, 1968, in Atlanta, he married Opal Kent, who survives.
Also surviving are son Charles of Grand Rapids; daughter Deborah Collier of Alden; stepsons Bill Kent of Kalkaska, Dale Kent of Mayville, and Bruce and Willard Kent, both of Atlanta; stepdaughters Peggy MacPherson of Mio and Audrey Whinnery of Kalkaska; brothers Herk Teerman of Grand Rapids, Gayle Teeman of Eustis, FL, Wayne Teerman of Baldwin, and Lloyd Teerman of Grandville; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jul 3, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Dwight MacPherson officiated. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.
