Fred C. Schroeder, 72, of Kalkaska died Sunday, June 24, 1990 at his home, following an extended illness. 

Mr. Schroeder had lived in Milford for many years, and he was employed at Ford Motor Company. 

Following his retirement in 1972, he moved to northern Michigan. He had lived at Lakes of the North, Mancelona, and Kalkaska. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kalkaska, and a member of the Coldsprings Excelsior Township Association. He enjoyed golfing, crafts, woodworking, and remodeling. 

On July 23, 1917 he was born in Detroit to Charles and Minnie (Rashke) Schroeder. He married Virginia Easton on July 17, 1937 in Detroit, and she survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, Fred Schroeder, Jr. of Holly and Robin William of Kenner, La.; two daughters, Sarah Ann Hester of Pontiac, and Nancy Ruth Murray of Holly; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Schroeder of Lake Orion, Charles Schroeder of Naubinway and Edward Schroeder of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Kulow of Redford and Dorrine Kulow of Eureka, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers. 

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, June 27 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kalkaska with Pastor Ted Turanski officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Highland, Mich.

Memorials may be directed to the Cancer Fund or Make a Wish Fund. Arrangements were handled by the Paullin funeral Home in Mancelona.
