Frank Boik, 81, a retired Master Sergeant who had served 20 years in the U.S. Army, died Thursday, May 24, 1990 at Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. He was a resident of the Kalkaska/ Mancelona area for 30 years and moved to Hesperia, Mich. two years ago from Houghton Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Mr. Boik was born on April 28, 1909, in Detroit, to Joseph and Julia (Bush) Boik. He was married on Oct. 15, 1952, in Mancelona, to Catherine Bailey, who preceded him in death on Sept 7, 1982.
Surviving are two stepsons, Eugene Bailey of Mancelona and Gordon Bailey of Owosso; three stepdaughters, Loretta Burgett of Missouri, Lydia Hershberger of Kalkaska and Laura Huffman of Hesperia; three brothers, George Boik, Arthur Boik, and tony Perzynski, all of Detroit; three sisters, Helen Causby of Higgins Lake, and Margaret Gant and Mae Haney both of Detroit; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 27, 1990, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Willard Bontrager officiated. Interment was in Coldsprings Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
