Eugene "Gene" R. England, 86, of Flora, IL died at 3:55 PM Monday, January 30, 2012 in Flora, IL.
Gene was born March 27, 1925 in Ramsey, IL to Frank and Edna (Depew) England. He married Jerrie Pigg in Biloxi, MS and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2002. He had worked for Sohio and BP Oil Companies, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was a member of First Church of God of Flora, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gene loved his family very much and cherished the times when he got to see his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son: Terry (Donna) England of Kalkaska, MI; daughter-in-law: Billie England of Flora; brother: Jackie (Janice) England of Decatur; sister: Hazel Farber of Minnesota; sister-in-law: Judy England of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son (Larry England), 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.
The funeral service for Gene England will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the First Church of God in Flora with Pastor Richard Artis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4-9 PM Friday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
The family has requested that memorials in Gene's memory be made to First Church of God.
