Eugene Edward “Gene” Dyer, 81, of Port Huron, died Thu, Apr 3, 2014. He was born Oct 12, 1932 in Wolverine to the late Ray and Adelia Dyer. He married Eileen Catlin on Sept 5, 1959 in Milford. Mr. Dyer served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and retired after 20 years. He was then a machine tool electrician for 20 years with the Cross Company, which later became Giddings & Lewis. He was a member of the American Legion Marysville Post #449 and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Dublin, George and Moose Lodge #158. He enjoyed bowling and loved watching the Tigers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eileen; four children, Stephen (Donna) Dyer, Bruce (Kari) Dyer, Deborah (Michael) Mantey, and Edward (Jill) Dyer; a stepdaughter, Gail (Michael) Gooch; eight grandchildren, Damon and Tara Dyer, Anthony and Kyle Dyer, Kira and Shane Mantey, and Ashley and Cheyenne Dyer; two great grandchildren, Joseph and Mariah; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Bollinger, Ora Lanning, and Beatrice Preaseau; and a brother, Orville Dyer. Visitation will be 2-5pm Sun in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Mon, Apr 7, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Dr. Robert Wynkoop will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the US Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester. Pallbearers will be Damon, Anthony, and Kyle Dyer, Michael Gooch, and Eric and Frank Gahns. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Heart to Heart Hospice.
