Eldon W. Wolfe, 88, of Kalkaska, died Friday evening, Oct. 27, 1989, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Wolfe moved to Kalkaska from Lansing in 1969. He was a graduate of Ortonville High School and Eastern Michigan University. He taught for four years in rural schools in the Ortonville area, and then joined the faculty of the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing where he worked for 42 years as a teacher, principal, visiting teacher, and dean of students. He was a member of The Peoples Church, the Kalkaska Historical Society, and a Life Member of East Bay Lodge 264 F. & A.M. He enjoyed hunting and carpentry.
Mr. Wolfe was born in Otonville on Dec. 3, 1900, son of the late William and Mamie Tice Wolfe. He was married on June 24, 1930, in Holly to Neva M. Somers who preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1984.
Surviving are one son, David Wolfe of Kalkaska; one daughter, Mary Kay Wolfe of Ann Arbor; and one granddaughter, Melanie Hotz of Kalkaska.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Philip Irving Wolfe; one sister, Edra Luethjohann; and one grandson, Michael Wolfe.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 1989, at The Peoples Church in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul M. Karges officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
