Edward Allen Elzinga, 85, of Kalkaska passed away peacefully on Mon, May 8, 2006, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center's Long Term Care, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on Jul 6, 1920, in Atwood and raised in Ellsworth. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Lou (Anderson) Elzinga. 

Ed was a veteran of WWII, serving our country as a US Navy Pilot. He met and married Millicent Ann Flood on Dec 9, 1950, in Bay City. Together they lived and raised their family at Manistee Lake from 1953 until 1989, before moving to Kalkaska. 

Ed retired from the State of Michigan Secretary of State office. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and golf. Golf was his passion. 

Ed was a member of the US Naval REserve, Elks, Sera, and St Pauls Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. 

Surviving Ed is his wife, Millie of 55 years; children, Gregory Allen (Carrie Lee) Elzinga, Edward Allen "Chip" Elzinga II, and Elizabeth "Beth" Ann (Richard R "Buc") Boudreaux; his grandchildren, Rebecca Meredith, Warren Meredith, Oliver Boudreaux, and Micah Boudreaux; his brother, Howard Elzinga; and his nephews, Kent, Chris, Russ, Mark, and Beau. 

Preceding Ed in death were his sister, Betty J Elzinga; and sister in law, Jeanne Elzinga. 

A memorial service honoring Ed's life was held on Thu, May 11 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska with Pastor Ted Turanski officiating. Visitation with the family was held prior to the service. Burial was at Atwood Cemetery. 

Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home.
