Mrs. Edith E. Hill, 89, of Rapid City, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 1989, at her residence.
Mrs. Hill moved to Kalkaska County in 1980 from Belleview, FL, where she and her husband had operated Green Oak Manor Mobile Home Park for 12 years. She was a member of the Salvation Army, and a former member of the Lioness Club in Belleview, FL.
She was born in County of Kent, England on March 22, 1900, to Edward and Emily Hallem Eldridge. On Jan. 18, 1927, in Flint, she was married to Melvin C. Hill, who died on Aug. 10, 1980.
Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Mary Hill of Fife Lake; one son-in-law, Jack Hopp of Fife Lake; one brother, Denny Eldridge of Canada; four sisters, Mabel Eldridge, Berta Jackson, Doris Forbes, and Veda Richardson, all of Canada; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Robert Hill, one daughter, Ruth Hopp, and two brothers, Roy and Kenneth Eldridge.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov 4, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Fr. Patrick J. Barrett, pastor of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
