Dorothea L. Ruttan, 84, of Traverse City, a former resident of Rapid City, died Tue, Dec 17, 1996, at Munson Medical Center.
Miss Ruttan was a graduate of Western Michigan University, and taught in the Alden, Rapid City, and Kalkaska Schools. Following her retirement, she did volunteer teaching and assisted at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed ceramics and flowers. She was a member of the Rapid City Church of Christ, the Birthday Club, the Pedro Club, the Retired Teachers Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Born in Kalkaska County on May 7, 1912, she was the daughter of Chritopher and Mary Jane (Dundas) Ruttan.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Ward, George, Emerson, and Irvin, and sisters Elizabeth, Edith, and Jessie.
Surviving are sisters in law, Marguerite Ruttan of Harper Woods and Jean Ruttan of Central Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services held Saturday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Jerry Rupe officiated. Burial will be in Clearwater Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
