Doris J. Gerlach, 75. of South Boardman, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born April 19. 1927. the daughter of Darius and Ardith (Munn) Abbott.
Doris graduated from Leslie High School in 1946. She married Donald L. Jacobs in June 1946, in Albion, and he preceded her in death. She later married Bruce Gerlach on June 11. 1979, in Albion, and together they moved to South Boardman.
Doris worked in the floral industry and was employed by Kalkaska Floral and Gifts for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, arts, crafts, and crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren's homes.
Doris is survived by her loving family including her husband Bruce of 23 years; daughter Billie Lee (Elmer) Ketchum of Kalkaska; stepsons Bruce W. (Becky) Gerlach Jr. of Clinton. and Thomas W. (Jane) Gerlach of Marysville, Ohio; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers Rex (Margaret) Abbott and Elijah (Beverly) Abbott all of Onondaga.
Her funeral service was conducted Sept. 10 with Bishop Bruce W. Gerlach Jr. officiating from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Adrian. Interment will be at Oliver Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in behalf of Doris J. Gerlach to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
