Donald D. Burgey, 73, of Wilmington, NC formerly of St. Clairsville, OH died Wed, Sep 6, 2006 at Wilmington.
He was born Sep 11, 1932 a son of the late Emmett Harold Burgey and Margaret Elizabeth Hakin Burgey.
Don was a retired Staff Sargeant with the U.S. Marine Corps having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars with nearly 23 years of service and a retired police officer with the St. Clairsville Police Department having served for 21 years. He was a member of the Belmont-Monroe Lodge #6 Fraternal Order of Police, Belmont Lodge #16 F & AM at St. Clairsville and American Legion Post #159 at St Clairsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lee Ann Taylor Burgey.
Don is survived by his wife, Ethel Zinser Burgey; a son Donald D. Burgey, Jr. of South Carolina; a daughter, Marla Kay Gross of St. Clairsville; a sister, Delores Marie Burkett of Andalusia, AL; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Toothman Funeral Home, St Clairsville with Fraternal Order of Police services at 6pm and Masonic Services following at 6:15pm. Services will be held Monday at 11 am in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
Full military honors will be conducted graveside by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
