Delores Ann “Dolly” Matznick, 78, a 61 year resident of Lapeer, MI (formerly of Saginaw), died Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Delores was born November 11, 1934 in Indianapolis, In to parents Leslie Gerald and Mildred Francis (Karas) Sawatzke.
Delores graduated from Saginaw High School, class of 1952. She married Dean M. Matznick on April 30, 1955 in Lapeer. Delores worked many years in retail sales at Lyons & Smith and Hall Mark, both in Lapeer. She also worked as a librarian at the Lapeer County Library. Above all, Delores’ most important career was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and loved gardening.
Mrs. Matznick is survived by her husband Dean Matznick of Lapeer; children: Deanna (Doug) McCallum, of Lapeer/Burton, Dawn (Jim) Wilson of Lapeer, and Dwayne (Toni Drew) Matznick of Concord, NC; six grandchildren: Monica (John) Pawlica, Eric (Rebecca) Wilson, Angela (Mark) Woodfield, Jessica (Mike) Stafford, Erin Brantley and Angela Lawson; ten great grandchildren: Brandon, Zachary, Bryson, Anna, Emilee, Cameron, Hannah , Isabella, Cheyenne and Antonio. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Brantley; granddaughter, Lisa Drew; great grandson, Dean “DJ” Pawlica; siblins: Gerald Sawatzke and Donna Kuca and her parents.
Delores’ family is holding a private graveside service at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer, Pastor Andrew Johnson, officiating.
