Delbert C. Hawkins, 72, of Charlevoix, formerly of Rapid City, died Sep 12, 1998, at Charlevoix Area Hospital.
Mr. Hawkins resided in Kalkaska County for 12 years following his retirement from Bundy Tubing in 1985. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and enjoyed Civil War history and firearms.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario on May 2, 1926, he was the son of Lorne and Hazel Caulbeck Hawkins.
On Jan 24, 1948, in Hazel Park, he was united in marriage with Reva Compton, who preceded him in death Sep 6, 1997.
Surviving are son Joseph Hawkins of Charlevoix; daughter Sheila of Rapid City; brothers Donald Hawkins of TX and David Hawkins of Kalkaska; sister Bonnie Kovach of Dunlap, TN; grandchildren Ingrid Baranski of Casco and Kristin Clancy of Fair Haven; great granddaughters Alyssa and Mackenzie Baranski, and several nieces and nephews.
Brother Douglas Hawkins preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Sat, Sep 19, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 pm until services on Saturday.
