Dale A. Downey, 61, of Fife Lake, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Munson Medical Center. He was born on November 27, 1952 in Traverse City to the late DeBlenna and Julia (Mills) Downey. Dale enjoyed playing golf and especially loved to go hunting, not missing a year since he was young. He also liked to tinker and do woodworking. Most of all he will be remembered as the family comedian. Dale would find humor in everything and loved to see people laugh and smile. Dale will be dearly missed by his wife, Susan (Brunette); daughter Carrie (Stephen) Nagy; son Adam Downey; grandchildren, Jacob and Morgan; siblings, Janet Tidey, Tom Downey, and Iva Welch; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Rita Downey, Robert Downey, and Dennis Downey. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Kalkaska Funeral Home, 152 S. Cedar St, Kalkaska. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm with final visitation beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home. Linda Bridson will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Clark Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
