Cyril R. Jean, 63, of Kalkaska, died Fri, Nov 5, 1999, at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jun 24, 1936, in Detroit, the son of Cyril Herman and Sylvia (Peterson) Jean. On May 5, 1954, in Detroit, he married Ruth Miller.
Cyril worked for General Motors at the Ypsilanti Powertrain Plant for 23 years. In 1967, Cyril and Ruth purchased property in Blue Lake Township, Kalkaska, and moved there permanently after his retirement in 1998.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. Cyril enjoyed golf, playing cards, and yardwork.
Cyril is survived by Ruth Jean of Kalkaska; children Cyril R (Sharon) Jean Jr of Livonia, Kenneth (Kathleen) Jean of Blissfield, Cynthia (Daniel) Oyer of Mancelona, David (Barbara) Jean of Westland, and Randy Jean of Canton; grandchildren Nichole, Jennifer, Cyril, Neil, Stephanie, Kimberly, Billy, Allen, and Kendra; mother Sylvia Jean of Onaway; sister Doris (Carl) Space of Onaway; and brother Richard (Patricia) Jean of Lapeer. Cyril was preceded in death by father Cyril Herman Jean in 1984; son Steven Jean in 1964; and grandchild Steven Jean in 1978.
Funeral services were Nov 9 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska; Rev. Ted N Turanski officiated. A graveside service will be Wed, Nov 10 at 11 am at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.
The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes Inc of Mancelona. Memorials may be given to St Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska.
