Curtis E Gillespie, of Kalkaska, passed away Jul 25, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born Sep 3, 1950 in Pocahontas, VA, he is the son of Edward L and Ruth (Jordan) Gillespie.
Curt married Kathleen Peters on Aug 12, 1977, in Sterling Heights. He was employed at Bellaire Family Heath Center for the past nine years.
His hobbies included sports, fishing, swimming, and listening to country music and oldies. Curt loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Curt spent his youth in Troy, where he was a very accomplished athlete in Troy High School, earning many honors and accolades.
Curt is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Curtis E Gillespie Jr of Clinton Twp, Nathan (Jackie) Gillespie of Grand Rapids, Michael Gillespie of El Mirage, AZ, Peter Gillespie of Phoenix, Drew Gillespie of Chandler, AZ, and Patrick Gillespie and Luke Gillespie all of Rapid City.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christine and Noah Gillespie; his siblings, Ron (Carol) Gillespie of Shelby Twp, Roger (Cindy) Gillespie of Cleveland, TN, Gary (Debbie) Gillespie of Bluefield, VA, Doug (Sue) Gillespie of Macomb Twp, Cheryl (Scott) Abbot of Backus, MN; his mother, Ruther Streeter of Sterling Heights and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Curt in death was his father, Ed Gillespie Sr, and his brother, Ed Gillespie Jr.
Visitation was on Mon, Jul 27 from 4 to 8 pm at the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial was on Tue at 11 am at St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.
Burial will be at St Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Kalkaska.
