Cornelius Lachniet, 70, of Kalkaska, died Wed, Mar 19, 1997, at Meadows of Grayling.
Mr. Lachniet moved to Kalkaska in 1981 from Southfield. He was a retired warehouse manager for A&P Stores. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion and the DAV.
He was born on Nov 6, 1926, in Grand Rapids, to Herman and Pauline (Sinke) Lachniet.
He is survived by sons Steven of Rockford, Douglas and Gerald, both of Grand Rapids, and Robert of Toledo, OH; daughters Pamela Ernzer of Grand Rapids and Nancy Salgat of Oxford; brother Dennis of Muskegon; sisters Elizabeth Jonker of Detroit, Cornelia McKay, Thressa DeRuyscher and Alice Lachniet, all of Grand Rapids; his special friend Hazel Veldman; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Herman and sister Margaret Brondsema.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Excelsior Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Diabetes Foundation.
