Chester A. Nowakowski, 59, of Fife Lake, died Wed, May 17, 1995, at his residence.
Born in Hamtramck on Dec 7, 1935, he was the son of Anthony and Sophie Majka Nowakowski. On Nov 25, 1958, in Traylor, he was married to Mary Beasley who survives.
He moved to Kalkaska County in 1979 from Farmington Hills. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a life member of the DAV and St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. He enjoyed cards and collecting.
Besides his wife, he is survived by son Michael Nowakowski of Fife Lake; daughters Christine (George) Holt of Southfield, Rita Ann (Ronald) Kirchofer of Kalkaska, and Jennie Lyn Nowakowski of Grand Haven; brothers Anthony of AZ, Leonard of Fife Lake, and Edmund of FL; sisters Sophie Edwards of PA, and Ginny Uguccioni of FL; and nine grandchildren.
Son Steven and brother Tadziu preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 20 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Father Patrick J Barrett officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Graveside services were under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
