Charlotte "Jean" Chadwick, of Fife Lake, loving wife, mother, sister, and kind friend died Mon, Mar 14, 2011 with her family by her side. She was 86 years old.
Jean was born on Apr 19, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MI, where she married her husband Bruce in Dec 1945. They raised their family on a farm in Cascade, MI. In 1972, she embarked on a 16 year sailing adventure with her husband Bruce aboard the sailing vessel Charlotte Jean, travelling the warm coastal waters of the Caribbean and Europe.
She returned to Fife Lake in 1986 to be near her children and grandchildren. During her retirement she spent time as a volunteer foster grandparent working with children at the Fife Lake Elementary School. She often spoke of her students with love and compassion and took great joy in spending time with them every week.
Jean was loved and admired by many. She led her life with quiet grace, was soft spoken and always caring for the needs of others. She loved nature, birds, and flowers, and found peace outside gardening with her poodle, carlo.
Jean is survived by her husband, Bruce; son, Christopher (Norann) Chadwick; daughters, Holly (Jim) Fitzgerald, Claire (John) Chadwick and Heather (Peter) Johne; grandchildren, Benjamin (Kimberly) Chadwick, Erin (Brad) Bybee, Kristen and Kellie Sherner and Caitlin and Danielle Johne; great granddaughter, Violet Chadwick; brother, Jack (Lois) Summers; and dear friend, Jean Dean.
A private memorial will be held in the spring.
