Charles Edward Cummins, 85, a lifetime resident of Rapid City, passed away Sun, May 17, 2009, at Kalkaska's Eden Center. He was born Aug 30, 1923, to Edward and Mary (Wilson) Cummins in Rapid City. 

After high school, Charlie joined the US Army Air Force and served his country from Jan to Oct in 1943.

He enjoyed camping, mushrooming, and participating in outdoor festivals for many years. Charlie will be remembered as an all-around handyman. If someone needed something fixed, chances are Charlie had it. 

An honest peddler, who made deals with a dollar and a handshake, Charlie had many repeat customers. 

Charlie is survived by his brother, Ted Cummins of Rapid City; two sisters, Edna Holder of Rapid City and Ellen Osborne of Ellsworth; two sons, William Cummins and Charles Cummins; many nieces and nephews and extended stepchildren and grandchildren, from the Fern Shaler Family and around Boyne City.

Preceding Charlie in death were his parents; his brothers, Stillman Cummins, and Tim Cummins; his son, Robert Cummins and his beloved Fern. 

The family offers many thanks to the staff at Munson Medical Center for their repeated excellent care. Thanks also go out to the entire staff at the Kalkaska Eden Center. Charlie enjoyed the one on one attention he received there. 

Visitation for Charlie will be held Thu, Jun 4, 2009 from 2 to 3 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The funeral service will follow immediately after at 3 pm with Pastor Kurt Coffia officiating. Burial will be at Clearwater Cemetery in Rapid City.
