Betty L. Cavitch, 90, of Kalkaska passed away on her birthday, Mar 10, 2012 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Miami, FL, the daughter of the late Howard and Catherine (Budge) Weenick.
Betty married Julius "Jake" Cavitch on Mar 15, 1945 in Traverse City. Together they moved to Kalkaska in 1953. Betty was an active member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary and the community. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, walking, and golf. Her kindness and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Surviving Betty are her children, Catherine L Mathis of Kalkaska and Vernon L (Carol) Cavitch of Gaylord; her grandchildren, Lara (Maury) Pederson of Waterford City, ND, Leesa (Carl) Gouin of Davison, and Rogena (Lance) Brinks of Howard City; and 7 great grandchildren.
Preceding Betty in death was her husband, Jake, in 1997; her daughter, Judith L. Nerli; son in law, Dnoald P Mathis; and granddaughter, Brenda S. Mathis.
Visitation will be on Wed, Mar 14 from 5 to 7pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral will be on Thu at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Peoples Church in Kalkaska.
