Bernard Jack Smith of Walton Junction, MI, entered eternal life on Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at his home after a short illness. He was 75 years old.

Jack was born in Walton Junction on Mar 20, 1935 to George and Edith (Wheeler) Smith. He grew up there and lived in Walton Junction/Fife Lake area all his life. He married the former Norma Shephard on Jun 2, 1956 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake. He served in the US Naval Reserves for six years and worked as a machinist at Brooks & Perkins/ AAR in Cadillac until his retirement.

He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed the stock car races at Cherry Speedway. He was a deer hunter and a dedicated Detroit Lions fan. Jack enjoyed time spent in the UP and he dearly loved being with all his family.

Surviving are his wife Norma; children, Jeffrey (Janell) Smith of Walton, Cindi Smith of Lake Ann, Kathy Smith of Walton, Michele Smith of Lake ann and John Michael Smith of Walton; an ex daughter in law, Deana Mercs of Plainwell; a sister Bonnie Barnes of Walton; a brother, Roger (Wanda) Smith of Fife Lake; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation is Fri, Jan 14, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton.

Mass of Christian Burial Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 11 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake with Rev. Norman Dickson officiating.

Burial: Walton Cemetery.
