Arnold “Pete” Hiltz, 71, a lifetime Lapeer area resident, died on Sun, Aug 8, 2010. He was born on Jan 3, 1939 in Selkirk, MI to Jake Arthur and Helen (Hiller) Hiltz. He married Marie Conner on Aug 5, 1961.
Pete grew up in Lum and graduated from Lapeer High School, Class of 1957. Mr. Hiltz loved to fish, hunt, and try his luck at the Casino. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Pete retired from General Motors in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Hiltz, of Lapeer; son Michael (Maria) Hiltz; daughters, Christina (Phillip) Klauka, Tammy (Jeff) Vrable, Shelly (Bart) Lewis; grandchildren, Casaundra, Rodney, Kade, Courteney, Phillip, Kennedy, and Jason; great grandchildren, Lexie, Bri, Lauren, Maggie, and Gracie; siblings, Alma Laarman, Peggy (James) Makedonsky, Judy (Gary) Grimes and Phil Hiltz; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Helen Hiltz; brother, Paul Hiltz; brother in law, Len Laarman and sister in law, Barb Hiltz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial to Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Al Volskis will be officiating. Burial will take place in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.
