Alger J. Priest, 83, of Mancelona, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 1989, at his residence.
Mr. Priest had been a resident of Kalkaska County since 1913, and was a retired farmer and logger. For 23 years, he served as Rapid River Township Clerk. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors.
Mr. Priest was born in Vestaburg on Dec. 25, 1905, to Alfred and Gertrude Galloway Priest. On Oct. 24, 1931, in Mancelona, he was married to Susie Woodhams who preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1982.
One daughter, Doris Eloff, also preceded him in death.
Surviving are five sons, David of Alpena, Herbert of Herron, Myron of Mancelona, Roger of Millington, and Delmer of Williamsburg; one daughter, Margaret Ray of Alaska; one brother, Robert of North Port, FL; two sisters, Margaret Tinker of Grayling, and Nellie Bartholomew of Kalkaska; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 3, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. C. Ray Roach officiated. Burial was in Coldsprings Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
