DEATH: 01 Oct 2021

On Oct 1, 2021, Our Lord in His infinite love and mercy welcomed His son, Alfred Lee Ostrander into his heavenly home and releasing him from his pain and suffering, placed him in the arms of our Blessed Lady, to whom he had great devotion.

Alfred was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26, 1936 to the late Clara and Everett Ostrander in Wheeling, WV. He graduated from Warwood High School. Alfred then joined the U.S. Marine’s for years. He attended West Liberty College in Wheeling and graduated from the University of Akron. In 1957, he married Wanda Contraguerro of Wheeling. They moved to the Akron area in 1963, where they raised their two sons, Michael of Cuyahoga Falls and Mark of Uniontown. He has four grandchildren, Michael Vincent of Cuyahoga Falls, Cole of Georgia, Nicholas and Alexia of Munroe Falls, Alfred had six great grandchildren, Jaiydin, Michael, and Vinny, Isabella and Luka of Cuyahoga Falls and Cora of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Eugene Ostrander.

Alfred was a member of the Wheeling Police Department and the F.O.P. in the early 1960.

He retired from the Chrysler Corp after 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Victor J Paul Assembly 1768 and Counsel 2362 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where he served on many chairs including Diocesan Executive Director under former Master John A. Shutsa, Cleveland Northern Ohio District 1. Alfred coached Little League in Cuyahoga Falls in the 60’s and 70’s. He loved the Cleveland Indians, working on the family history, old movie’s, 50’s music and golf.

Visitation will be 1 until 4 pm Sun, Oct 10, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Mon, Oct 12, 2021 at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave, Cuyahoga Falls with Father Pete Colletti officiating.

Interment will be 12:30 pm Thu, Oct 14, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, WV.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Eugene Church for the St. Francis Peace Garden Fund. Alfred will be remembered in the beauty of this garden with all our loved ones.
