Alfred Kohn, 101, of Kalkaska, passed away on May 17, 2002, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, Long Term Care. He was born on Oct 27, 1900, in Bowling Green, OH, the son of Hibbs and Thalia (Heckman) Kohn. 

Alfred attended school in Morenci. He was a painter in the construction industry. Alfred enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to wild birds. 

Alfred is survived by his family, including his daughters, Ardis Childs of Kalkaska and Vonna Shapiro of SC; grandchildren, Dennis (JoAnne) Childs of Rapid City, great grandchildren, Mike (Carrie) Childs, DeeAnne (Derick) Graczyk; great great grandchildren Kaylee Childs and Andrew Childs, all of Rapid City; and many other great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 

Alfred was preceded in death by his wife Laurabel Groner in 1935 and his second wife, Alice Marion Dwyer McGinnis in 1984; daughter Betty Thompson; brothers Charles Kohn and Clarence Kohn; and sister Hazel Burn. 

Funeral services were conducted on May 20 at the Wolfe Funeral Home. The Rev. John Bontrager officiated. Interment was at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville. 

Memorials may be given in behalf of Alfred Kohn to Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care. 

Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
