Alfred Julius Perkins

DEATH: 12 May 1937 Fife Lake, Kalkaska, Michigan

Alfred Julius Perkins, for forty years a resident of this country passed away May 12th, at his home in Springfield Township, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 26 days. 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock on May 14th at the Springfield Church with Rev. Samuel Long officiating. 

Mr. Perkins was born near Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan 16th, 1860 and was married to Miss Helen Louise Pine on July 11th, 1888 at Manlius, N.Y. To this union were born seven children, three of whom died in infancy. 

Mr. and Mrs. Perkins moved to Kalkaska County about forty years ago and in that time he has served his community in a number of ways. He was township clerk for years and served a number of times as school director. He was one of those who organized the Bloomfield School District. 

He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, Mrs. Helen Perkins, one son Clyde Perkins of Plainwell, Mich., and three daughters, Mrs. Irene Mitchell, Mrs. Florence Bates and Mrs. Marion Hall all of Springfield Township. One sister, Mrs. Wm Haskin. 23 grandchildren and 3 great grand children also survive.
